- Pre-enrolment Appointment Booking for e-Passport opens at 10:00 am (Canberra Time) on the office day. Appointment dates for biometrics in the Embassy are generally available for 4 to 5 weeks later from the day of the Pre-enrolment Appointment Booking. Available dates for the Pre-enrolment Appointment Booking are shown in Bold Letter. Due to the high volume of the applicants, appointments are fully booked within a few hours.
- Before filling the e-Passport application form, please prepare photographs of your citizenship (front and back pages) and passport (photo page and page number 31) in JPEG format with the file size less than 300 KB. These documents need to be uploaded during the application process.
- While applying for the e-Passport, please select the type of application from the given category appropriate for you: 1. First Issuance, 2. Renewal of an expired passport, 3. Replacement-Lost/Stolen, and 4. Replacement-Damaged.
- Do not write Mr./Mrs./Ms./Dr. etc. in front of your first name. If you have a middle name, please write it after your first name.
- While writing the citizenship No., please do not use any marks i.e. dash (-) or slash (/), rather just write the numbers as written in your citizenship certificate. In case of the minor applicants under 16, please write Minor ID No. issued from the Government of Nepal.
- In case of the baby born in Australia, please write the birth certificate number in place of citizenship number if Minor ID has not been issued from Nepal.
- To select Australia or any other country in the birthplace of the applicant or place of issue of current passport, please click on the "Other" option among the list of district name and select appropriate country.
- National Identity Number (NIN) is not mandatory for applying the passport from the Embassy.
- It is mandatory to fill up the details as marked by the asterisk (*). If any details are filled incorrectly while filling out the application form, they can be corrected at the Embassy on the appointment day.
- Online payment service is currently not available for the passport application. Passport application fees can be paid at the Embassy on the day of the appointment.
- Applicants can apply for passport renewal if the validity period of the passport is less than one year. Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) can be used till their validity period.
- After completing the application form, applicants are required to save the PDF file of the application form, print it in A4 size, and bring it to the Embassy on the day of the appointment along with other required documents.
- All applicants (5 years and above) except children under 5 years of age, need to mandatorily be present at the Embassy for the biometrics process.
- Applicants having their passports expired, lost/damaged, or in immediate need of the passport for various reasons, are requested to fill out the Pre-enrolment Appointment Form selecting the Department of Passport, Kathmandu, or any other location if they have difficulty getting a Pre-enrolment Appointment of the Embassy of Nepal, Canberra and visit the Embassy for biometrics between 2:00 - 3:00 PM on any office day.
- Applicants are requested to apply for a passport with sufficient time-margin, as it takes around 2 months to issue a passport from the date of biometrics.
